B i o g r a p h y

William McLeish began studying cello in Kitchener, Ontario with Mark Norris, and went on to study with Claude Starke in Zurich. At the Glenn Gould School in Toronto, William continued lessons with Bryan Epperson, before studying with Michel Strauss and Jan Ype Nota at the Royal Conservatory of the Hague. In 2016, William received a Masters in Music from the Royal Conservatory of the Hague, where he graduated with distinction. In addition to regular performances with the Babylon Quartet, William McLeish also performs with the Hermitage Quartet, an ensemble founded around the yearly Peter de Grote Festival in Groningen. William McLeish has performed concerti with both the Guelph Symphony Orchestra and the Kitchener Waterloo Symphony Youth Orchestra. In the summers of 2013 and 2014, William was a Fellow of the Aspen Summer Music Festival, where he studied with Richard Aaron. William is also an active cello and piano teacher, teaching privately in Utrecht and The Hague.
